Sitting near the front of a packed auditorium in Carbondale, Colorado at a film festival, where I expect a constant roll out of “bro style” adventure films, I got goosebumps as Apache Skateboards founder Doug Miles Sr. shared his philosophy as a crew of native skaters shred across the screen.
The Mystery Of Now is a short biopic of how the convergence and art and skateboarding are giving the youth of the San Carlos Apache Reservation in Arizona a new voice.
And so is 5Point Film Festival whose mission statement reflects the diverse line up of films selected this year:
Stories of adventure have the power to ignite positive change in our communities and our world. Through adventure, we find our best selves and encourage those around us to do the same.
After 4 days of binge watching the freshest outdoor films, ranging from full-on documentaries to artistic shorts, I returned home to the Four Corners inspired to dig into my next adventures and share more stories in new ways (mission accomplished 5Point).
